Split
ASCA, CAN, AKC CH. Paradox Dichotomy of Bayshore "Split" (6/11/1999 - 10/16/2012)
The definition of sweet expression
Oh, Sweet Split...Not a rocket scientist, but dear as dear can be. Split has absolutely NO agenda of his own and lives just to follow us around the house, gazing adoringly all day long. This dog is very good for the ego!
Split is soft, sensitive and completely benign. An elder in our household, his primary work is as sous chef to Brendan at dinner time. He takes quite seriously his responsibilities as chief taster and pot scrubber.
CONFORMATION
Split is hardly what you would call a moderate dog. He has a drop dead gorgeous head, oodles of clear, bright, straight coat, an excellent shoulder and neck and certainly more bend of stifle than neccesary. He comes at you very nicely, moves away a tad close. Side movement pleasant, but foot timing not consistantly accurate.
BREEDING CONSIDERATIONS
Recently neutered due to a testicular tumor, this is really all moot, but I'll include my impressions incase anyone has his get. Surprisingly, given how extreme Split is in bone, head and type, he was not a particularly strong producer. He produced his angles, sweetness and, inconsistanly, his head but I was often surprised at how moderate bone was. I saw this tendency in the get of his mother and brother Cobb on occasion. If I could have improved Split, I would have given him more self confidence. He sired three get with catarcats, one with seizures. I would breed Split offspring with particular attention to cataracts and temperament. According to reports ( or lack thereof!), the majority of his children had minimal health problems.
Eyes - no longer Cerf ( age related cataracts)
Hereditary Cataract - one copy
MDR1 - Not done
Hips - OFA Good
